• Hi I wanted to install JetPack and so I did however it wanted to connect to the WP account. So I entered the same password I use to login into my account that is http://www.example.com/wp-admin as in the same password I use to edit my WP site however when I enter the same password on JetPack it does not accept it.

So, I came to support site and it asked to create a new login for wordpress.org with the same email however the password was sent to my email. So I am here now.

    What am I doing wrong?

The Jetpack plugin requires you to connect to a WordPress.com account to be fully activated.

To do so, you will have to create a WordPress.com account here:
    https://en.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1

If you had previously created an account, but forgot the password, you can request a new password by entering your email address here:
    http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Please follow the instructions carefully. You’ll receive an email during the reset process, so make sure you read it for important instructions. If you don’t receive the email right away, check your spam folders as well. The confirmation email can get caught in them sometimes.

Please note that WordPress.com accounts are different from the account you use to administrate your blog, and the account you created to post here. WordPress.com, self-hosted blogs, and WordPress.org are three different entities.
Please check out the following links to learn the differences.

    I hope this helps.

Jeremy, thanx but what you have given me is something I know and is a common scenario however that is not the case here…. the problem is my password for my /wp-admin is not working for JetPaack.. it has nothing to do with wordpress.org login details..

If I go to create a new password at https://en.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1 it says my email already exist so my login only works on /wp-admin and no where else.

P.S. it has nothing to do with wordprsss.org I know this is a forum and its login is totally different

The only thing I am able to do is edit my site through /wp-admin login using the user ID and password however the same user id and password does not work anywhere else… it does not work on JetPack neither on Garvatar to edit my profile.

That’s to be expected. Jetpack expects WordPress.com account credentials. You can’t use your local WordPress credentials.

If I go to create a new password at https://en.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1 it says my email already exist

That’s most likely because you already created an account, when you created your Gravatar. Could you try to reset your password by entering your email address here:
    http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

Once you’ve done so, you’ll be able to log in to your WordPress.com account, and you can then connect Jetpack to that account.

Let me know how it goes.
