Welcome @philbeaux ! 🙂 I’d be happy to help. We have a lot of great resources on our help page here: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/help/
and several help videos here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9cmsdHslD0vIcJjBggJ-XMjtwvqrRgoM
Now, it sounds like the thumbnails not changing may be due to caching. Do you have a caching plugin installed? If not, try going to Gallery > Other Options > Misc. and clear image cache. After it’s done, clear your browser cache and reload, does that help?
Hope that helps!
Becky
Thank You.
Yes! That seems to have fixed it. Thank You Very Much!
And I will check out those those resources.
And I guess if I have anymore questions I’ll post them here.
Thanks Again.
Very happy to hear that worked out for you @philbeaux ! 🙂
Btw. any chance you might consider leaving a quick review for us here? https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/nextgen-gallery#postform
If not, no worries. If so, we’ll obviously appreciate it. 🙂
Thank you Philbeaux!

Thank You Becky.
But I still have some questions.
Not really “how to’s” but whys.
I’m very new to image galleries in general and I’m trying to wrap my head organizing and categorizing the several hundred images I want to put in this gallery.
I’m working my way through a lot of it as it’s just going to be trial and error. But I’ll ask again about linking to pages. It seems every element of NextGen be it gallery or album has the option to link to a page.
Why? What are the benefits to linking to a page rather than just embedding in a post?
@philbeaux – The “Link to page” option is essentially for use with Albums.
When you set a “Link to page” option to something other than “not linked” it will direct your visitors from the gallery (or sub-album) preview image to a specific page on your site.
Generally this “specific page” is used as a means of displaying additional information either about the gallery being displayed or some other related content.
Thanks for asking!
– Cais.
Well thank you Cais.
I’m still digging into NextGen so I’m sure I’ll have more questions. I’ll post those as needed.
Thanks again.
