Wasn’t sure were to post this question….

Wondering if this plugin would stop Google from indexing our site?

We have a site in development and want to prevent Google (and others) from indexing the site until we’re ready to release it. We know about adding no follow, no index in headers but are looking for an additional layer of protection.

Why don’t you want your coming soon page indexed? Helps you get a jump start on your seo. See this article: https://www.seedprod.com/seo-tips-wordpress-coming-soon-pages/

By default the page is made to be indexed. But if you don’t want your site index add a robots.txt disallow like this: http://www.robotstxt.org/robotstxt.html

Sorry I wasn’t clear…I’m fine with the coming soon page getting indexed, it’s all the other pages, the pages that are being developed that we’re concerned with.

It seems that because they aren’t shown to visitors that are not logged in that Google wouldn’t “see” them either….so they couldn’t be indexed.

I just wanted to confirm that this is how it would work. I’d hate to have assumed it to be that way and then later find out that somehow the pages behind the coming soon were all indexed.

    Thanks for the quick response!
