  • Do you want to add them into the footer? The darker grey area at the bottom?

    Hi Innuvo
I need to add things like contact privacy disclaimer & another along with my registered office details. As you may have guessed I know nothing about web pages or building of websites. I am struggling & appreciate your help. I assume that these details should be around the bottom of the page but obviously clearly visible
    Thanks

Is this a simple possible addition in Chameleon ?

Absolutely. If you go to “Appearance >> widgets” there should be some footer widgets in there.

If you then drag the “text” option from the left over to one of the footer widgets and type the text in that you want, then they will appear.

there is space in that theme to add footer widgets.

    Hopefully that makes sense

    Hi Innuvo
I have put privacy on without putting any text in to it yet. However how do I make it respond as a clickable thing so that when i do include the text that when it is clicked the thing opens. does that make sense ?

    iInnuvo
when i opened the footer widgets there were no preexisting ones in there so I just typed in Privacy & it duly appeared at the footer of the page I now need to be able to insert the approbate text & have it so that when it is clicked it will open with that text if you know what i mean.
As for the registered office info i would need that to just display across the bottom of the page on a permanent basis. it doesn’t need to be a clickable.
The other links say like about or contact needs to link to the appropriate page. Is that possible. please

Ok, you will need to create individual pages for those items (privacy / discalimr / other links)

Once you’ve created the pages, you will need to visit the page and grab the full url in address bar. You will then need to create links in the text box below the title of the text widget.

If you dont know how to create links, look at this for easy reference:
    http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_a.asp

    Hopefully that all makes sense

Ok so think Im ok to create the pages for each
assuming that for an example i wanted to show say treatment as a link i would go to the treatment page copy its
    Permalink: http://www.kcphysio.co.uk/treatment/
    and put that where exactly.
Im sorry to be so inexperienced with this website building but i am learning, but need to do so at a rate of knots. if i can get one of the links up & running i know that i can then just repeat the process for the others…..
Astor the company details registered number etc how do i place that along the bottom without the need to use it as a footer / maybe ?

sorry innuvo there was no please or thank you there !
I am very grateful for your help.

Ok, sop what you would need to do, it put this in the main text box below the title, within the widget area you created (privacy).

So if you wanteed the treatment link to appear there, you would need to put this code in that text area:

    <a href="/treatment">Treatments</a>

Notice how i have left out the http://www…&#8230; etc. That is becuase if its an internal link, you just need to put the part after the .co.uk part (/treatment in your case)

You can then just repeat the code i’ve given you there for other links on your page…

Innuvo i have just tried that & what it does is create a link on the page which i would need to know how to do that but what i need to be able to do is that when i click on the footer widget it would open uptake page it is linked to. Do that make any sense. Im afraid that as i don’t get the terminology yet that i can’t explain myself properly.

I dont quite understand what you mean…

I can see the link at the bottom of the page, which appears on all of the pages as it is in the footer. If you go to the homepage it is there as well.

Do you want them to be a small list of links?

It opens the page called treatments when you click on the link from the homepage.

    (@shiv2408)

    ok
I put that code in the privacy on the widget & it lists now under the word privacy & it seems to be clickable so from that you have solved one mystery for me as i guess i should now be able to list pages like a map to direct visitors to different parts of the website.

How does it work if for example i want Terms & conditions & want it to link straight there without having a section underneath. if you check the site you will see at the moment i have privacy with the word treatment underneath http://www.kcphysio.co.uk

    Thank you

I think i may have pre-empted your question, with the last post.

Small list of links i guess i would put under a title of navigation/ map so that would work I’m guessing if i used what you have just taught me with the
Treatments i assume i just add any other link to it. like for contacts home etc.

as for the privacy i would need it to just open the privacy page which would be about not sharing details of clients etc.
Again that would apply to disclaimer & T & Cs

Does that sound about right ?

I would just remove the title of the widget (currently set to private)

Then copy and paste the code you put in earlier, paste it below. So you could end up with a list like this, with nothing in the “widget title” part:

    <a href="/treatment">Treatments</a>
    <a href="/privacy">Privacy</a>
    <a href="/faqs">FAQ's</a>
    <a href="/disclaimer">Disclaimer</a>

There is another way around this, and this is to create a new menu, add all of the pages to that specific menu and instead of using a text widget, you can add a menu to the widget position (drag from the left as you did the text widget) and then they will all display. Then you would just need to add new pages to the menu and it would automatically appear in the list…
