Error Message: The required "client_id" parameter is missing
-
I’ve checked as many similar Topics as this one but I have not encountered a 100% fix for my WP installation. Jetpack is driving me insane.
The first time I noticed something was wrong with the Stats graphic in the Admin bar – so I investigated it and it was throwing back an error saying it couldn’t connect and go to WordPress.com and I should try to deactivate/reactivate. Well, I went to my primary WP.com account and checked “All sites” and my website was not listed (www.fishgillz.com.au).
So stupid me, I go and uninstall the plugin and I lost nearly all of my Custom CSS (only small amount retained on a duplicate site). I reinstall it and tried to connect – but it keeps popping up “Error Message: The required “client_id” parameter is missing”. I manually reinstalled and it still came back with the error message. I did it a total of 8 times in a row (various manual attempts) and it still show this error message. I tried restoring a backup but still got the error message. As far as I can tell my options are:
*Try installing a previous version of Jetpack – OR –
*Forget about it altogetherIf there is something else I haven’t tried I would be keen to find out.

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble! The good news is that your custom CSS changes are stored in the
wp_optionstable of your database. Each custom CSS revision is stored as a post using the custom CSS post type. As a result, your changes won’t disappear if the Jetpack plugin is deleted from the plugins folder. But first, we need to get Jetpack working on your site! The next thing to check is whether any other plugins on your site may have a conflict. Please check our Known Issues list here:
http://jetpack.me/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/troubleshooting-tips/You can also try to deactivate all plugins on your site, and then activate them one at a time to determine if there is a plugin conflict.
If that doesn’t help, please rule out a theme conflict by temporarily changing your site’s theme to a default theme (such as Twenty Fifteen) and trying again to connect.
If you still can’t connect, can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site? Please be sure to include a link to this forum thread in your message.
1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
5) Click the “Contact Support” button. Thanks!
Thanks Ryan – just about to contact Support. Looks like I’ve tried everything and I have yet to get it working again e.g. deactivating plugins (I even tried deactivating them all except for Jetpack) and changing to 2015 theme.
I’ll include a link to this forum/thread as well. Cheers
