i think you may be right about the server but i’d also suggest troubleshooting your internet connection too, just in case there’s a problem there. lost connection in the browser when creating posts and pages can sometimes be that.
as for frontend error that’s probably a server things so contact your host and see what they have to say…
Thank you! It is definitely not an internet issue — the problem happens for various users at many different locations (office, home, coffee shop).
I’ve put in a call to action with the server, and we’ll see what happens. I just want to know if there is any chance this could be a WordPress issue? Is there anything I could try?
just to be sure can you list the version of wp, the plugins (both active and deactivated) and your theme?
you’ve said you’re up to date but there may be something lurking about that’s causing the problem…

all of your plugins have to load files and make external calls to operate, including the deactivated ones, so with that many plugins active and that many that are not up to date with wordpress 4.0.1 (especially WP-Equal Columns, get that out of your system now!), that could explain a lot!
any plugin that doesn’t explicitly state that it’s compatible with the current version of wordpress should be treated with some skepticism and anything that hasn’t been updated for more than a couple of months spanning the latest wordpress update should also be viewed badly. the older and more incompatible they are with wordpress the more demands they make trying to load out of date files, calling out to resources that may no longer exist, taking up database traffic and space which can slow your site and creating a massive hole in your site’s security.
definitely get rid of that equal columns plugin. 🙂
