I’ve bought WordPress for Dummies. It was written in 2012 so I think it covers version 3 of WordPress. It talks about managing incoming links from the dashboard. When I go to my 4.01 dashboard I don’t have the option to manage incoming links. Did they remove it from version 4? Is there some way to mange the incoming links in version 4?

If the book was written in 2012, it would be covering any version from WordPress 3.3 to 3.5: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Versions

However, I don’t recall such a thing ever being in WordPress. In the book, is it under a Dashboard section called Links?

It’s on the dashboard under recent comments. But I guess that old version doesn’t matter much now. Is there a way to manage incoming links with WordPress 4?

Oh, I think I remember what you mean! 🙂

That particular Dashboard widget was removed in favor of much more feature-complete plugins. There are several stats plugins to choose from, many with their own Dashboard widgets, like https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/ and https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-slimstat/
