Absolutely !
I second aeonflow’s feature request .
Being able to search through the entire directory contents beyond what is listed on screen would be a terrific addition to the functionality of File Away.
It would make File Away an absolutely killer WP file handler plugin.
Pray that Wizard Thom gets the time to conjure up this wonderful gift for all of us File Away fans.
This would probably be the most resource intensive task File Away would perform. It’s not in the immediate plans. I’ll consider it for the future.
I didnt understand if the files added in the file away systems are also catched by the normal wp search. I already had that problem with wp-filebase. a system that push the user to use 2 different search form is unacceptable
Unacceptable? Pardon me? File Away uploads files directly to your server. It does not use the WordPress media uploader. Because the [fileaway] shortcode, the plugin’s main feature, displays files from your server, not from WordPress media uploads. The search facility on the table searches the table on the page. It is a client-side, javascript search function, and it does what it does.
What is unacceptable is making false assumptions about what a free plugin does, then blaming the plugin for failing to meet your false assumptions.
You don’t get to tell a plugin author who does this for free, out of the generosity of his own heart, what is or is not acceptable. That’s not how this game is played, and it’s certainly not how you get what you want.
Peace.
I am sorry I think that there is a misunderstanding about what I meant with “unacceptable”. I was referring to the user experience when he approaches the global solution (a wordpress portal). I was not referring, with that term, to the features offered by the single plugin (posts, file management, faqs, image gallery and so on).
Maybe I was not clear, and in this case I apologize, or maybe you overreacted and in this cause you could drink a good tea before typing.
It’s unacceptble that users who are accessing a global solution have to use 2, or 3 different search components when they have to search stuff in the system. If his task is just “finding files” than the file search engine will be ok for them.
Ok, but what is your question pertaining to Fule Away, specifically?
