Quick update: I have two gmail accounts- one is gmail, another one is my university account. My gmail was able to subscribe, but not my gmail university account.

I’m concerned that this has been a longstanding issue, and many other people have attempted to subscribe but received an error notice or no email. I’d love to get this fixed, but I am also looking at other options like mailchimp.

I looked into things further, and everything seems to be working correctly on our end.
I checked your current subscribers list and there are a number of addresses that appear to be pending confirmation. This means that that the confirmation email was sent, but the confirmation link wasn’t clicked. This can happen for several reasons. It’s possible that the confirmation email was overlooked. It’s also possible that the confirmation email got incorrectly flagged as spam by your email host.
You can also go to http://subscribe.wordpress.com to manually confirm your subscription.
