Hi Frank! Thank you for making such a great plugin, and thank you in advance for taking the time to respond to this message.

I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help me with.

    Background:
I have two different sites. I’m combining them into one, on a new hosting plan and at a new URL. I’m starting over with them because I was having some bugs (NOT related to QMN – just explaining why I’m not doing a direct migration).
I have 12 quizzes on one of my sites. There are a lot of questions. Hundreds. It’ll take me hours to re-enter them manually.

    Question 1:
Is there a file, or a series of files, that I can migrate over from QMN to keep all of my quiz questions? I’d prefer not to migrate the whole folder, as I’d like to work with a fresh install of everything on my new site. But are there specific files that contain my quizzes?

    Question 2:
Is there a way to mass-enter quiz questions for QMN without using the standard UI? The UI is awesome. However, with a large number of questions, it can take a while to go through and setup everything. Is there a file into which I can paste questions? Is there a way to upload questions with an Excel or Word document?

Thank you very much for your help! I love QMN!

  • Hi Tom,

I can help you with the first question. If you are moving to a new site and don’t need the previous results just copy over the following files from your MySQL database to the new database making sure the plugin is freshly installed on the new site before copying across:

    wp_mlw_questions
    wp_mlw_quizzes

If you want to keep the results from the last website also copy over:

    wp_mlw_results

I recently did this and had no problems at all.

    Cheers

Forgot to add that it is assuming the site you are moving them to doesn’t already have any quizzes at all.

    Greetings Tom:

Thank you for choosing to use this plugin! I am sorry that I have not responded sooner.

clownguts way will work for your needs. If you have not installed Quiz Master Next on your new site, you can export the tables wp_mlw_questions, wp_mlw_quizzes, wp_mlw_results, and wp_mlw_qm_audit_trail. (The wp_ part may be different in your installation depending on how you have it set up). Then import them into your new site before installing Quiz Master Next. If you have already installed Quiz Master Next and have not created any quizzes in it, then you can delete those tables on the new site and replace them with the exported tables from the old site.

If you already have quizzes on your new site, then there is not a way to easily combine the two sites at this time.

As for the answer to your second question, there is not currently a mass-entry system for questions in the plugin.

    Best Regards

    Frank

    Clownguts, Frank,

I apologize in that I didn’t respond to both of you sooner! My email has been acting up and I didn’t receive a notification of your replies. I’m very sorry for my delay.

Thank you both for your input! That solves my dilemma, and that will make my life much, much easier!

    Thank you again!

    Greetings Again Tom:
