Basics of columns

    I am extremely new at putting any type of codes together. I really think easy columns is going to be a huge benefit to the website I am working on, but I do not know how to piece the codes together. Is there a columns for dummies or would you be willing to give me advice about how to put this puzzle together?
    I tried using a 3/5, 1/5 and 2/5 together with a right div at the end, and the last word ended up second and they were really spaced out.
    The second time I tried 1/5 with both div between columns and a left div at the end.
