When Publicize posts my latest blog on Facebook for me, this results in a jumble of code -basically all the Visual Composer codes: [vc_row][vc_ column width=”1/1″] et cetera.
I use Visual Composer to make my posts and somehow this doesn’t seem to work well with the otherwise great Publicize function.

I’ve been searching and reading a lot, but can’t seem to find others with this problem, let alone a solution. Am I overlooking something very simple? I hope someone can help me out!

    Hi,

That is a known issue. There currently is no way for Jetpack Publicize to strip shortcodes that are not part of Jetpack or WordPress itself from the Publicized posts. We’re working on this but it’s a tricky issue. 🙂

Thank you for your reply. I really had been searching pretty hard (I thought) but couldn’t find this known issue anywhere -so either it’s not all that known, or it’s extremely known, to such an extent that nobody’s talking about it. 🙂

Anhoyhow, I’ve constructed a work-around protocol for this issue, so I’ll manage. 🙂

Mind sharing your work-around? it might be useful for other users.

Sure, though I must warn you it’s a bit clumsy. But it works.

First, I set up my entire post in VC/Backend Editor, only saving as draft.
When the preview is to my liking, I switch to Classic Mode, so that it shows the naked ugly code. I ctrl-X ctrl-V all the code to Word.
Then I stay in Classic Mode and erase most of the post and set up a simplified version of the post in the Classic Mode -I basically just keep the Featured Image and the text, without worrying about lay-out and stuff, as the rest won’t show in the Facebook post anyway.

    Then I hit Publish.

Before anyone will actually read the post on WordPress, I clear the entire Classic Editor field again and copy-paste all the code I saved in Word earlier. Then I hit update and all is well.

Like I said, it’s a clumsy, Neanderthal sort of solution, but it gets the job done. And once you get it in your system, it isn’t as complicated as it may sound. 🙂

I hope this explanation is clear enough. If not, feel free to ask or comment.

Thanks for that, it totally makes sense. I hope that we can come up with a better fix for the issue than that soon 🙂

Any solution today to fix this? I have to manage it for more than 10 sites, impossible to fix it by hand one by one. Please fix this.

@javierico I’m afraid we haven’t fixed that issue just yet. You can follow our progress on this here:
