• After update 3.8.1 in dashboard > widget I can’t see all the widget areas and can’t modify the only one I see (shop).
I have woocommerce (2.0.20) and Bazar theme (2.1.0).
No one else with the same problem?

  • We faced similar problems having a clean install of WP 3.8.1 & no plugins — e.g. widget page not functional (could not drag, select, reorder, modify, or delete any widgets in the sidebar, nor drag in new widgets, etc…)

Further web searches turned up this link: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/adding-widgets-to-sidebar-1

Unfortunately, we also could not select Screen Options to see about modifying the accessibility setting.

Inspecting db table ‘wp_options’, we found row ‘can_compress_scripts’ was set to true (1). Changing that to false (0), as it’s set in a parallel system we’re running, did seem to resolve the issue.

HI, Screen Options will not work on my Edit Pages, but does work on my Edit Posts. Will this work for me? I did not have this problem a few weeks ago. I persists even when I deactivate all plugins except WordPress SEO Premium by Yoast.

The Yoast tech suggests that I try a clean 2012 theme and enable just their plugin. I currently have a customized Agency Theme. Will I be able easily go back to my customized Agency them after testing this?

@gsbinder: If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

@rambillo: Where do I find the wp_options database? I’m searching through the directories on my FTP client and having a hard time finding it.

@nerdonomy: wp_options is a table in your WordPress relational database. You won’t find it via FTP.

Usually the database is run as a MySQL database, which can typically be accessed from your web host’s control panel, via something like phpMyAdmin. The credentials to access the database can be found in your wp-config.php file.

    Hope that helps.

@rambillo that does help, yes. I found the row, but my problem is that it’s already set to 0.

im having the same issue. i changed the value from 1 to 0 an no effect. perhaps its more than a coincidence that im running a yit theme as well.

I got same trouble, no screen options at all. already download a pluging “screen options and help show customize” hopefully would work.

I have not idea how to change, if anyone can tech me, ill really appreciate that.
