By the way…
We know that there is the possibility to import individual folders.
But some our folders (years) contain up to 500 albums.
It takes too long by hand.
You can ftp the entire list of top-level folders including sub-folders to the depot and mass import.
Make sure there are only folders ( containing sub-folders or files ) in your depot, no files.
500 sub-albums in an album should not be a problem.
You will need to keep the browserwindow open, after time-out ( 30 sec ) it will auto continue. It imports and creates albums with the names of the folders. Just start it up and watch it happen…
Hello Jacob,
thanks for your fast answer.
I hope I have understood you correctly.
Depot = domain/wp-content/wppa-depot/username?
No .jpg pictures in the depot, only the folder structure?
Example
Depot (no pictures)
folder 2013 (no pictures)
– folder album 1 (pictures)
– folder album 2 (pictures)
folder 2012 (no pictures)
and so on
After I have these list of folders and sub-folders.
In the backend -> Import pictures
Activate Locale
Import pictures from: My Depot
… and then?
I’ve tried it out, the pictures are now imported.
Thanks for your help!
All pictures now stored in wp-content/uploads/wppa.
The file system limits the number of subdirectories in a given directory to 32,000. Furthermore, is warning if more than about 10,000 to 15,000 files located in a directory that file operations could take in such large directories long.(Wikipedia)
It does not matter if all of our pictures, about 300000-400000 images, are stored only in one directory?
It has been proven to work up to 130.000.
You can convert to tree structure on Table VIII-A10 ( may auto continue if required ) You will have no more than 210 files/dirs in one dir.
Hello,
the local mass imports must occur at some kind of a button “Upload” if selected Import photos from:
I made a selection but nothing happens: (
Best Regards,
Martti
Are we talking about the Import Photos screen?
If so, after selecting Import photos from, press the Set source directory button. This will reload the page and show the uplaodeable photos on that from-location.
Tick the boxes of the photos you want to import and do not forget to select an album where to import to.
Press the Import button,
some kind of a button “Upload”
there is no Upload button on that page…
If you mean something else, pls be a bit more descriptive.
hey,
Photo Albums – Import Photos – Select Local or Remote (and I set it Local)
Import photos from: —My Depot— and then possible select the directory from dropdown.
But no more buttons. (import) What IΒ΄m doing wrong?
and then possible select the directory from dropdown.
Then click the Set source directory button and see if there is a list of importable photos with checkboxes. Select them and also select an album to import to and press the Import ( or Start Ajax ) button. Should work or at least produce error/warning message(s)

Im sorry π
but I have no such option “Set source directory”
It looks that the location of your wppa depot directory is incorrect.
Please inspect Settings page Table XII, especially these 2 lines should look like ( example ):
WPPA_DEPOT_PATH The depot directory path. /mnt/webc/d3/15/51893315/htdocs/opajaap/test/wordpress/wp-content/wppa-depot/myloginname
WPPA_DEPOT_URL The depot directory url. http://wppa.opajaap.nl/wp-content/wppa-depot/myloginname
You should ftp your photos to the depot directory, and find them when the source is set to — My depot —
