Add class to link for lightbox effect?

I’ve created my imagemaps – they are floorplans for a property. I wish to be able to click on a room and an image of the room appear in a lightbox.
In the imagemapper ImageMap options for the highlighted area I am selecting “Link to an url address:” and the putting in the direct URL to the image.
I want to have it open in a lighbox but unfortunately ImageMapper doesn’t trigger the lightbox effect because the links don’t have the “class = thickbox”
How can I define the class? I’m staring at the plugin editor in WordPress but I’ve no idea where to start!
