ImageMapper is a WordPress plugin designed to add interactivity in images in posts. The plugin was originally designed for web comics, but with its good customization options it can be used for adding interactivity to any kind of images.

Redirecting user to a different page when clicking certain character in a web comic? Displaying a person’s name and home page link in a group photo when mouse is hovering over them? Showing additional info and notes in a large graphs? Possible.

Based on the ImageMapster jQuery plugin. ImageMapster homepage.

Instructions for use are found in Installation page.

About support: This plugin was built during a project that has ended in 2013. Further development resources are very limited. If you need something fixed, most likely you’ll need to fix it yourself. However, any patches are welcome and can be added to the main code base. If someone wants to become a co-author on this plugin, let us know.

Picking area not working properly

after we upload a map of a State and when we an area, it just doesnt work. You should be able to click on any point on that area, unfortunately it doesnt work like that. Our issue is in the selected area maybe half of it work. Any ideas what could be the issue ?

This freebie, although unsupported since 2014 still beats many premium image mappers hands down. Easy to use and implement it just works – no hassles, no coding – 5 STARS all day long.

Simple. Easy. Works Well

I am using this with the latest version of WordPress and it works fine. The reason for the 4 rather than 5 stars? At this time the plugin doesn’t appear to support opening a URL in a new window.

This is such an important function. When we design a web site we don’t want the user to be take away from the site to another site. Is there a way we can get this plugin to open a target=_blank page when URL is selected?

It would be such a pity if this plugin is not supported any more as it’s one of the nicest and easiest I’ve come across.
