    Hi Melanie,

It seems Amazon Web Service has changed the interface where the users create access keys. I tried with the new pages they have introduced and created an access key with the secret key and it worked without a problem. So you may be missing something.

First, you need to obtain the access key and the secret key.

    1. Go to Amazon Web Service and navigate to My Account/Console -> Security Credentials to log in.

    2. After logging in, you should see a page with the heading title Your Security Credentials. In that section, you see a pull-down sub-section named Access Keys (Access Key ID and Secret Access Key). And press the plus(+) button.

    3. Press the button named Create New Access Key to create a new access key. Don’t miss the secret key they give with a pop-up window. The new system of Amazon Web Service will not allow you to retrieve the secret key later on.

Then just use the keys in the plugin This article may help as well.

    Hi,

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I have done everything you have instructed but still cannot get my access keys to be authenticated.

Do I need to link my Amazon Associates account and AWS account linked in any way? They are both with the same username and email address already but I didn’t know if I need to do any more.

    Many thanks

    No, it’s not necessary.

I have done everything you have instructed but still cannot get my access keys to be authenticated.

So if you go to the setting page, Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> Authentication, and enter your access key and your secret key and press Authenticate, do you get the status, Not Authenticate?

Yes it says not authenticated in red.

All right, you can send me your access key and the secret key via e-mail.

I’ll check if I can use it in my environment so that we know whether the issue is related to your environment or the keys. ( After my testing, you can delete the keys. )

The e-mail address is indicated in the Contact page ( Amazon Auto Links -> About -> Contact ).

    Hi Melanie,

The keys you sent me did not work in my environment either. You can check if your keys are valid in this page. (http://associates-amazon.s3.amazonaws.com/scratchpad/index.html)

At this point, I suspect you haven’t created a Product Advertising API Account( https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/flex/advertising/api/sign-in.html ).

    Hope it helps.

Thanks again for your help. I have an API account already and have been using Amazon Auto Links for months before the upgrade. Is there anything else that could be causing the problem?

Make sure that you are using the same e-mail address(the account name) for the Amazon Product Advertising API account and the Amazon Web Service account. We are dealing with three different Amazon accounts, Amazon Associates, Amazon Product Advertising API, and Amazon Web Service.

I still suspect you had not had an account for Amazon Product Advertising API because the error I got with your keys was:

InvalidAccountYour AccessKey Id is not registered for Product Advertising API. Please use the AccessKey Id obtained after registering at https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/flex/advertising/api/sign-in.html.

In that case, try recreate an access key and the secret key as the error message suggests. ( you may need to deactivate existing keys as only two keys can be activated )

Hold on I am still getting code errors at the top of my blog which is what I was trying to get the Access key authenticated to sort out.

I get the following errors on the top of my posts –

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home4/cald/public_html/wp-content/plugins/amazon-auto-links/class/AmazonAutoLinks_AutoInsert_.php on line 261

Please could you advise how to get rid of these messages?
    Thanks

Glad to hear you solved the issue with the access keys.

For the new issue, could you create a new topic for it?

    Hey Melanie,

I’m going to close this topic. I have not seen a new issue being created regarding the auto-insert error message. So maybe you’ve resolved that? If you have not, feel free to post it as a new topic.

    Best,
