    Newbie question:
I can’t seem to find the duration setting for Initial Payment?

So if I set $39.99 for “Initial Payment” what would be it’s time period, how much time does this price convey? when does it end?

I want to make 3 levels of membership for example:
    1. $19 for 1 month.
    2. $29 for 3 months.
    3. $39 for 6 months.

When “Initial Payment” time period is over, “Billing Amount” (recurring membership payment) takes place–which cycling periods have a setting option for weeks, months, years.

    Thanks

  • Hi Sieglufer27,

The initial payment setting is just that, an initial (one-time) payment made at the beginning of a membership purchase. We have extensive documentation on Membership Levels here: http://www.paidmembershipspro.com/documentation/membership-levels/.

It sounds to me like you may be looking to set up a trial period, which PMPro can handle out of the box (see documentation link above).

    Thank You

    I think I understand now.

My answer has to be this:
Billing Amount: The amount to be billed one cycle (day(s), week(s), month(s), year(s)) after the initial payment.

So if I set Billing Amount cycle to 1 month / $10: A user purchases this level (paying any Initial Payment) in January – first Billing Amount takes effect in February charging user $10.

Correct me if i am wrong.

You are right. At checkout, the initial payment is charged. The first subscription payment (billing amount) will be charged 1 period out. So in February in your example.

If you want to limit how long a membership lasts, you should set an end date.

Thanks, now my inquiry has been resolved.
