  • Am i allowed…

Your installation is yours to do with as you please, and I have made one very-minor edit to one WordPress core file (and I keep a backup copy locally so I do not have to be concerned about losing it during an upgrade).

That sounds to me like a bad idea. It would be better to learn to work with WordPress just as it is while possibly making suggestions either here http://wordpress.org/support/forum/requests-and-feedback or here http://wordpress.org/support/forum/alphabeta

    Well, thank you.

    What i meant by

I want to change these files so that WordPress works as i want it.

is that i only want to change the css files so that the website looks according to my theme.

I don’t want to change WordPress completely instead i want to retain it as it is plus add my own functions to it.

Anyway thank you very much for your help and time you devoted to answering me. That really helped put my mind at ease !

As far as I know, all of that gets done inside your Child Theme and the WordPress core only handles the CSS or whatever for your Dashboard.
