Now something is REALY bad. I still don’t get a new page when I select “blank” and now I get a lot of junk below ever image.

I can’t tell you to visit the actual page because I have it blocked with an “under construction” plugin.
Some debug info unfortunately remained in 2.2, thats what I get for rushing commits. An update to 2.3 should resolve the unwanted output.
You might need to save existing image widget once so that correct data is saved to get the target issue sorted.
