[Plugin: Contact Form] Block spammers?
-
I am using this form on my standard web page. It is exceptional and I appreciate it, but I have on problem. Some of SEO spammers are getting past the Captcha block. How would one block specific addresses? I don’t believe Askimet connects here, does it?

Hello,
Do you use our Contact form plugin and Captcha plugin? Could you please describe more about this issue?
Regards,
OksanaMy blog is only a couple of days old. I’ve installed this plugin yesterday. It installs and works great. Thanks.
I’ve got one question: I noticed there is no spam protection build in? Don’t you get flooded by spammers? I’ve got Askimet, but Askimet only stops comments to posts, isn’t it?
Captchas are a waste of time. They simply do not work.
Our Captcha plugin is not a waste of time for sure. It was tested by thousands of users, you can see it on the official WordPress page.
And of course, the first question was related to our Contact form, so the answer is yes – you need to try our Captcha with Contact Form to protect your blog from spam messages.
Moreover, you can configure additional settings via plugin settings section to make the math logic of the captcha stronger (if you wish).Of course, if you will look at this point of view then there is nothing perfect in this world. And we suggest an option only, you can use it or not – this is up to you.
“He that feareth every bush must never go a-birding”Dotch, currently there are no option in our contact form plugin which allows to detect spam messages and prevent links adding. We will take it into account for future versions.
You can contact our support team and ask about possible customization of the plugin based on your needs.
you can see it on the official WordPress page.
This means nothing.
Do not imply any sort of endorsement.
Captcha is broken, useless, annoying to humans.
Thanks, installs and works fine!
Dotch,
We are glad to know that.
Feel free to contact our support team if you’ll have any questions or suggestions concerning options or functionality issues of our plugins.Sincerely,
OksanaCaptchas are ok for blocking bots. They DO NOT WORK for blocking content entered by humans who correctly fill in the CAPTCHA. I want to be able to block all comments containing certain keywords like viagra, tramadol, seo, etc. I do NOT want the person filling out the form to know that his spammy efforts are wasted. I just want to prevent a client getting junk and having the inconvenience of even having to decide to delete the spam.
Hello Aaron,
Captcha and contact form are not intended for blocking bots and spam who are filling out the form. We are not planning to add such kind of
option in the near future.Regards,
OksanaWhy not just have a closer look at how G.A.S.P. works? π
This is 100% effective in comment spam so it would work for the form too.
I canΒ΄t say often enough: Create a way to use GASP within yout form and
you have the best one available on WP. My 2 ct.It works great. I’ve got my site (low traffic) up for 8 months now and have NEVER received any spam – Zero.
+1 for Beauty Pirate’s recommendation.
I’ve got this installed as an available plugin on a multisite installation. I chose your plugin because it was the easiest for a client to configure. However, the two blogs I’ve got this running on already are getting several spams an hour from a single (US-based) bot.
I don’t want to have my clients need to enable a second capcha plugin for this to work. It would be best to have the capcha functionality built-in, or to use the Growmap Anti Spam approach listed above, as this seems to be an effective, low-overhead strategy.
Thanks for a great plugin!
