login problem fatal error message
-
Hello,
My site url is: http://www.singingafterforty.com/
When I try to log in to the admin area, I get this message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_rtl() in /home/trusty/public_html/singingafterforty.com/wp-includes/general-template.php on line 2102I upgraded to 3.3.1 just before this happened. It could also be a problem with Popup Domination, which I have been using.
Any suggestions for a newbie?
I have quite a large site and no problems until now. Thus little experience with FTP etc.Thank you.
Much appreciated.

Try:
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
– re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.
– re-running the upgrade via wp-admin/upgrade.php
Sounds like a borked upgrade. Do a manual reinstall of WordPress (following @esmi’s instructions above).
Hello again,
Very good of you to reply so quickly. Your time is much appreciated.
One more question: If I do a manual re-install, do I lose the content that is on there now?Thank you.
BarbaraNo – your content is held in your database but, to be on the safe side, we always advise site owners to backup their database before carrying out any WordPress upgrade.
Thank you.
I appreciate your response.
Best,
Barbara
