Thanks for the info
I think that is not too intuitive. I doubt that barely a handful of users will read the docs and realize that they could do this, adding the the coordinates on their post images to have them imported in the GPX. Also what happens if there are multiple GPX, they will import in both? Only in the first?.
The UX idea is usabe, but very weak. I need something stronger, that you can see and use, something that many users can use straight away for its utility.
I’m drafting some proposals.
The first one is to create a Custom Post Type, as I told, called Waypoints. By default, disabled in the General config. Enabling this CPT opens the possibility of adding Waypoints individually. Each Waypoint will receive a WordPress ID. Then, I need to figure out a way, to explain how to add that ID in the GPX file, or to set up all the published GPX with some ID, and then being able to link those waypoints to those ID (or both options at the same time)
Once we have the waypoints linked to the GPX maps, unlimited possibilities of configuration will open, like adding an image, which might shown as a little thumbnail, or selecting an icon, among the favicons list (or any other iconlist), or also configuring the text within the waypoint, including links and all that.
This way it will be very extensible and UX friendly (at least somewhat easy to relate given how WP is structured).
I think this is going to be the final release, this is something I’ve been thinking from the day I released the plugin, but it needs a lot of code, and its probably going to be very buggy at first.
