tracker.js is built for data protection. Here is what it does:
– It loads from your own website, not from our servers or any other company.
– It sends page views only to your own WordPress site. No visitor data leaves your server.
– It does not set any cookies.
– IP addresses are anonymized and hashed by default, so the full IP is never stored.
You can check this under **Statistics → Settings → Privacy & Data Protection**. The Privacy Audit there flags any setting that could affect GDPR. If you use a consent plugin (WP Consent API, Real Cookie Banner or Borlabs Cookie), you can connect it on the same page. Then tracking only starts after the visitor agrees.

Hi @geogoucho, thanks for sending the exact message, that helps a lot.
“Loading failed for the <script>” means your browser blocked tracker.js before it ran. Ad blockers (uBlock Origin, AdGuard) and Firefox tracking protection block any file named “tracker.js”, whatever it does. Nothing was sent anywhere. The script simply did not load.
To fix it:
1. Go to **Statistics → Settings → General**.
2. Turn on **Bypass Ad Blockers** and save.
3. Clear your page cache, if you use a cache plugin.
The script then loads under a random name from your own site, so blockers stop catching it. The **Tracker Debugger** under Statistics will confirm it loads. More help: https://wp-statistics.com/resources/troubleshoot-the-tracker/
If the error stays after that, tell us your browser and any blocker add-on you use, and we will look into it.
there are two ‘tracker.min.js’ and ‘tracker.js’ files inside assets/js and both seemeed to be minified.
It would be great to get a readable version, so that i can understand what they are doing.

You are right, both files are minified. Only tracker.js is loaded on your site. tracker.min.js was an old leftover that nothing loads anymore. tracker.js is built from three readable files, already in your plugin folder under wp-content/plugins/wp-statistics/assets/dev/javascript/:
– user-tracker.js: sends the page view
– event-tracker.js: link clicks and downloads, only when the Data Plus or Marketing add-on is active
– tracker.js: starts tracking and checks consent plugins

In short: it sends one request with the page view to your own site (REST API or admin-ajax.php) and nothing to any other server. It sets no cookies.
