Duplicate Posts I Can’t Delete
-
After importing from WP Recipe Maker my blog feed is polluted with duplicate posts, all with broken permalinks and the post type ‘mv_create’ which I asume is your doing. I will have to delete your plugin and undo the damage it did to my databases. Thanks for wasting my time.

Hi, @kdagnall!
I’m so sorry you had that issue! I’ve not had anyone experience that before and I would love to help figure out what went wrong.When I look at your site now, I don’t see any duplicated posts, but I see the Create recipe cards still remain so I assume you’ve manually addressed the issue?
Is there any lingering symptoms I could look at to figure out what happened? Feel free to reply here or to email support@create.studio!
JM
P.S. I apologize for the delayed response–my daughter was born a few days ago and it’s been a bit of a whirlwind as you can imagine!
SET post_status = 'draft' WHERE post_type = 'mv_create';That’s the fix. You left all your mv_create post types published with no way to view, edit, or get rid of them from the blog feed. I had to use mysql command line as root to even figure out where they were coming from.
Thanks, @kdagnall. I’m truly sorry you had to spend your afternoon tracking this down! That’s really frustrating.
Create’s recipe cards are stored as published posts of our private
mv_createpost type (the exact same way WP Recipe Maker stores its recipes). We register it with WordPress’s standard flags, which keep it out of feeds, search, archives, and permalinks:register_post_type( 'mv_create', [
'public' => false, // WP won't render them
'publicly_queryable' => false,
'exclude_from_search' => true, // WP won't show them in search results
'has_archive' => false,
'rewrite' => false,
'query_var' => false,
'show_ui' => true,
// labels, capabilities, etc.
] );WordPress won’t show these in a blog feed on its own, so something else on your site (a plugin or the theme) is probably requesting every post type.
My main concern is that new Create cards are saved as published, so any new card you make will likely show up wherever you saw them again, which I’d like to prevent.
I know you’ve already spent more time on this than you should have. But if you’re willing to help, could you please answer the following?
- Where did the duplicates show up? On the public blog page, in the RSS feed, in the WP admin, or somewhere else (a feed reader, email newsletter, etc.)?
- Would you be open to running a small diagnostic plugin? If you email support@create.studio, I’ll send you a plugin that, when activated, will briefly re-publish a single card, check which theme or plugin is pulling it into your pages, set it back to draft, and show you the results to send back.
Thank you!
JM
Hi @kdagnall,
I grabbed your email address from your Create registration and just sent over a diagnostic plugin I worked on over the last couple of days. I know you likely have no desire to spend more time on this, which would be totally fair. However, I’m concerned that any new cards you create will have the same problem, which would obviously suck.
So, if you’re willing to help prevent this from happening to you and others in the future, I would greatly appreciate you running the diagnostic plugin, which should only take a couple of minutes to install and run.
Thanks again!
JM
@jmlallier If you are officially part of this plugin, please have the owner tag you as a support person for it. Thanks.
@moderator done 👍🏼 (I am the owner 😀)

The issue was with the customer’s theme/site setup, in which Create’s custom post type being registered as private (correctly following WordPress’s built-in registration format) was being ignored.
Create has added code to strengthen the protections against such situations in the future.
