Hello @netzurepl,
I hope things are going well for you.
I am really sorry to hear that you’re facing an issue after testing it on my test site. It works fine. Here is the screenshot for reference: https://monosnap.ai/file/sSTDM4e28xZCGrTiCqH3P9N9wYJ2fx.
On your end, the issue could be related to the MaxMind Account or to the site itself, with conflicting functionality from another plugin or theme.
I’ll suggest a few ways to narrow it down to which specific thing is causing the issue:
First, navigate here: https://playground.wordpress.net/. You’ll get a fresh WordPress Installation, install the Defender plugin, add the key, and see if that works. If not, then you must check your account at https://www.maxmind.com/.
If that works, then something related to the site setup must be causing a conflict; you must conduct a conflict test.
Here are the steps for the conflict test:
– Create a full site backup using a hosting platform or plugin.
– Deactivate all the plugins, except the Defender.
– Try adding the key if you still get the error after 5 minutes. (If you don’t get any error, try reactivating each plugin one by one and keep refreshing the Defender page too, to see if activating any plugin changes any behaviour there?)
– Deactivate the theme and switch to the WordPress default theme.
– Repeat the key-adding step and check the outcome.
Here is the conflict test documentation, which you can refer to if you feel stuck while doing a conflict test.
