This morning we noticed our website was displaying a critical error and was down completely. We deactivated all plugins and began reactivating them one by one. We then checked our error log and found dozens and dozens of this error... and only this error prior to it going down. This was around the time the Meta Pixel for WordPress plugin updated.

    Hi Ron,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue, let’s figure out what went wrong.

The vendor/autoload.php path is present in the plugin download so I would suspect a bad/incomplete plugin update.

Can you download the zip file from here and upload it to your site: https://wordpress.org/plugins/official-facebook-pixel/. Then please reactivate the Meta pixel for WordPress plugin.

    Best,
    Marko

Hi, I had already done the reinstall of the plugin this morning. we were able to connect to the Meta Pixel again. With only limited traffic our error log is not showing anything in it so far.

The other thing we noticed from our Wordfence firewall is that “Mozilla/5.0 AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko; compatible; ClaudeBot/1.0; +claudebot@anthropic.com)” was hitting us so hard with massive amounts of “page not found” errors that it may have compromised an update.

We have placed limits on may AI crawlers such a Claude and in particular Meta-ExternalAgent as they were taking us down frequently by overloading our server on hosting.com. We do allow facebookexternalhit to access our site as we do share on social media.

We will monitor our error log for a day or two.

Hi, Thanks for checking back. I cheeked the logs and do not see any additional errors related to the Meta Pixel.

    Cheers!

    Hey Ron,

Great to hear the reinstall did the trick and the plugin is working fine.

If you are happy with the plugin and support, we would greatly appreciate if you could take a moment to leave a review.

    Cheers,
    Marko
