As with other form plugins, I’m not finding the ability to easily mark entries as spam. Can you point me to where this basic feature is hiding from me?

    Thank you,

    Hi @phrasewrite

In Formidable, there isn’t a standard back-end “Mark as Spam” action for entries like some other form plugins provide, but we offer a host of alternative options focused on protecting your sites from spam.

Do you currently have a CAPTCHA solution set in your forms? We support several options, including Google reCAPTCHA, hCAPTCHA, and Cloudflare Turnstile, so you can choose whichever works best for your site. https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/add-spam-protection/#kb-captcha

Even with reCAPTCHA installed, manual spam can still occasionally get through. We have even been the victims of manual spam attacks that can’t really be prevented with most automated spam protection.

If there is a common email, phrase, link, or word in the spam that is getting through, you could check out the following options:

    • JavaScript Anti-Spam Token: Built-in protection that generates a unique token for your site, effective for 24+ hours and great for protecting file uploads from spam as well.
    • StopForumSpam API: You can activate this feature, which checks email addresses and IP addresses against this regularly updated spam database to block known spammers before they can submit.
    • Custom Disallowed and Allowed Words: Create your own denylist and allowlist of terms. Our system can block thousands of spam terms while allowing exceptions for legitimate content that might otherwise be flagged.
    • WordPress Comment Blacklist: Formidable Form can automatically check all submissions against WordPress’s built-in disallowed comment keys.

There are additional layers of spam protection you can add—Akismet works well for us. I have also heard good things about the anti-spam plugin by Cleantalk.

These tools are all documented here: https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/add-spam-protection/

Hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions on this.

    Best,
