    Hi,

I’m on All in One SEO v4.9.2. I have Enable llms.txt turned to off in my plugin settings, as I have a custom LLMS.txt file I’m using. The plugin keeps overwriting it though with its own version.

    Hi @springtown27 ,

Thanks for reporting this; happy to help dig into it. Before we go further, a couple of questions that will help us understand what’s actually happening:

    1. What’s your site URL? If we can check what /llms.txt is currently serving, we can tell straight away whether it’s AIOSEO’s generated version or your custom one.
    2. What’s your custom llms.txt? Is it a file you wrote manually, or is another plugin/tool generating it? Knowing this helps us understand whether there’s a conflict between two tools, both trying to manage the same file. To help us better understand your setup and environment, please send us the URL of the custom llms.txt or a proper screencast (https://www.loom.com/screen-recorder) of your current setup.
    3. After turning the toggle off, did you hit Save? It sounds like you did, but it’s worth confirming that the setting only takes effect once saved.

The reason we’re asking: llms.txt is a single file at the web root, so if AIOSEO is installed and has ever had the feature enabled, it may have jobs queued in the background that haven’t fully cleared yet. Whether that’s what’s happening here, or something else entirely, depends on your specific setup.

Also worth noting that you’re on v4.9.2, and the current release is v4.9.6.2. It’s worth updating before we go further, as there are several fixes in between (though we’ll need the above info regardless).

    Thanks.

It’s serving the one I created, as I just replaced it again this afternoon. I created it myself and uploaded it to the server. The one that AIOSEO creates has overwritten mine at least 2 times. When it does, it has the autogenerated message at the top of the llms.txt file with the AIOSEO name.

I won’t upgrade the plugin as that just increases the variables of what the issue could be.

The toggle was saved to off a while back and confirmed it is still off.

    Hi @springtown27 ,

    Thank you for your follow-up!

If I understand correctly, you have the AIOSEO llms.txt feature turned off, but AIOSEO keeps overwriting your manually uploaded llms.txt with its own auto-generated version, and you simply want AIOSEO to leave your custom file alone since you’re managing it yourself.

The fact that it’s writing its own version (with the “Generated by All in One SEO” header) rather than just deleting your file tells me something specific: a background scheduled job might still be firing and running the file generation.

To track down what’s still triggering it, can you open this URL in your browser while logged into your WP admin:

    https://www.waypointconverts.com/wp-admin/tools.php?page=action-scheduler&status=pending

Look for any entries with aioseo_generate_llms_txt in the Hook column. If you see any, those are the jobs overwriting your file each time they run. You can cancel them directly from that screen, and that should stop the overwriting without needing a plugin update or any code changes.

Let us know what you find! A screenshot or a proper screencast (https://www.loom.com/screen-recorder) of that scenario would be helpful to move forward.

ok, thank you. Yes, I see one. I’ll cancel it out.
