    Hi.

The apparent necessity of having WP-cron enabled has long been an annoyance with your plugin. We have WP-cron disabled, because that’s best for the overall performance of our site. We use Cloudways hosting, with their ‘Cron Optimizer’ enabled. This disables and replaces WP-cron, running any queued WP-cron jobs on the server every 5 minutes.

The question is, are your plugin’s claims about WP-cron having to be enabled, true in this situation? My Product Feed successfully updates each night, but I don’t know whether it updates any faster or slower than it would with WP-cron enabled and Cloudways ‘Cron Optimizer’ disabled.

Could you shed some light on this, please? If it does turn out that WP-cron really has to be enabled, then it makes your plugin somewhat incompatible with ours (and many others’) setup.

    Hi @dannywhitehead ,

We no longer use WP-Cron, the refresh is now delegated to Woocommerce Action Scheduler: https://woocommerce.com/document/understanding-the-woocommerce-system-status-report/scheduled-actions/

It’s in Woocommerce > Status >> Scheduled Actions, it should contain the name pfp or feed. This is assuming that you are on the latest version of Product Feed

As for our plugin mentioning the WP Cron is enabled on the settings page or dashboard, it’s likely a visual bug. It’s already raised with our developers so we can show the appropriate information.

Let me know if you have other questions.

    Thanks for that.

I’ve searched Woocommerce > Status >> Scheduled Actions for ‘pfp’, ‘feed’ and ‘woosea’, and nothing shows up. I also looked in Tools > Cron Events (we have ‘WP Crontrol’ plugin installed) and found one called ‘woosea_cron_hook’. The hook name is woosea_cron_hook and set to run hourly. I’d rather the feed update happened at midnight every 24 hours.

    Any advice?

We’re using Product Feed ELITE for WooCommerce Version 4.2.1.

I’ve found the issue. The ‘Product Feed ELITE for WooCommerce’ plugin wasn’t showing available updates on the Plugins page, so I’ve missed out on all the updates since version 4.2.1.

I logged into the AdTribes site and only then found out that the current version is  5.0.1 (and 13.4.5 for PRO). I’ve updated now, and all seems fine. I’ve refreshed my feed, which was a LOT quicker than before, but it seemed to overwhelm the server and brought the site down. To make sure this doesn’t happen in the daytime, is there anywhere I can explicitly set the refresh time?

    Hi @dannywhitehead ,

Looks like you are an Elite/Paid user. I’m unable to provide further support from here as it’s against WordPress TOS.

Having said that there’s a feature request for this so I’ll add a +1 in favor of it being developed. There’s no ETAs for this.

but it seemed to overwhelm the server and brought the site down
    – Try lowering your batch size, the default value is 750:https://adtribes.io/knowledge-base/batch-size-configuration-product-feed/ For starters try values around 100-500

Ah, OK. Thanks for all your help.

It’s a pity about the WordPress TOS. I think having these conversations available to the public is much better for everyone.
