    Hi There,

I want to setup Google Site Kit but I get the following error message:

Your site may not be ready for Site Kit

Looks like your site is having a technical issue with requesting data from Google services.
Click here for more information, or to get more help, ask a question on our support forum and include the text of the original error message:
    google_api_connection_fail

I installed the mini-plugin but I still get the same message.

I check the site health and everything looks good. I also checked cURL and it is enabled. I am also using the latest version of PHP. I did some research and checked everything that may be related to this issue, like REST, and everything looks to be working fine.

So I have no clue why I am getting this error.

I appreciate it if could help me to diagnose the problem and fix it.

    Warmest Regards,

    Nia

Hi @niayesh, thanks for reaching out and also for sharing all the information you have thus far . It sounds like you’re not being able to connect to the Site Kit service over IPv4 as opposed to the more commonly raised issue with users impacted by an IPv6 block. The plugin you used ensures communication over IPv4 only. Please deactivate or uninstall this plugin before sharing the following the steps below, which can help rule out third party plugins impacting setup:

    1. Login to your live site from Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Attempt to set up Site Kit once more.

Let me know how you get on with the above. If the same error remains, please share whether you see any warnings or errors when checking your Site Health status  (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs from your Site Health information that you already shared. Such errors may include indications as to why you can’t connect.

    Thank you for your response,

I did all the steps you mentioned, and got the same error message.

and after clicking on “Sign in with Google”, I get the same error message:

The request to the authentication proxy has failed with an error: request_failed Get help.

I visited the Site Health -> Status, and didn’t get any new warnings or critical errors.

Sorry to hear that @niayesh. Based on this, I suspect there may be an issue at host level. With that, please perform the below steps:

    1. Download this mini plugin
    2. Install and activate as a regular WordPress plugin
    3. Attempt Site Kit set up once more

The above will help ensure communication with Site Kit is achieved over IPv6 only. Let me know how you get on with the above, or ask if you have any questions.
