Thank you for reaching out to us. What shortcode are you currently using? Do you have any cache plugin running in your site at present? Has anything changed in your site prior to this issue?

    Kind regards.

I am not using a shortcode; I am using the sidebar widget to put the Donate button on the site. https://www.slippah.org.

Most of the settings for the plug-in are set to default.

There is a caching plug-in: WP SuperCache. This site has been operating since 2005 or 2006 with very few changes. Earlier this year, my hosting provider, XV Host, was bought out by Sky Net Hosting, but Sky Net retained the same hosting setup.

Something in your site or your PayPal account has changed and that is why you are getting this message. Cache plugins can cause issues like these with shopping cart pages. Also, have you contacted PayPal in regards to your account?

You might also like to test for plugins and or theme conflict. Sometimes changes to a plugin and or your theme can cause issues.

    Kind regards.

The site has been largely unchanged since about 2006. It has had WP SuperCache installed since then. It also uses Jetpack, which also provides image acceleration services. Have not had problems for 18 years with these plug-ins, nor with the PayPal Donations plug-in.

I have logged in to the PayPal account and detect absolutely no problems and have no notifications of any problems with the account. It can receive PayPal payments, just not from this plug-in, even though it has been operational for 18 years.

Any other thoughts will be welcome.

What happens if you disable all other plugins except ours?

Are all your plugins up to date? What WordPress version is your site running? What PHP version is your server running?

You might want to try one of the following plugins to help you troubleshoot this issue.

    And or:

Let me know how you go.

    Kind regards.

@zztype – were you able to find a solution about this? My client is running into the same thing. Also reading some articles saying the PayPal account needs to be a “business account” and not a personal PayPal account.

    Thanks a bunch!

@majordesigns, no, I have not. But I do have another site which is able to accept donations using a different setup.

https://www.kalihipalama.org uses a combination of Woo Commerce with the Woo Donations add-on plug-in to . The setup is a little more cumbersome than the Donations Via PayPal plug-in, but it does work.

I will likely change slippah.org to this Woo Commerce setup soon.

There doesn’t appear to be a full solution given in this thread so I will share what I think might be the cause of your problem.

    See https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/PayPal-Payments-Standard/Why-do-I-get-the-message-This-organization-doesn-t-accept/td-p/3047173.

It is related to a setting in Paypal that allows or does not allow “encrypted buttons” (whatever that means). The solution given is:

Login PayPal.com > Settings  >  Account Settings > Website Payments > Website preferences > Encrypted website payments > Block non-encrypted website payment >> select “Off”.

I don’t personally use Paypal donations so I can’t vouch for this.

Unfortunately, checking that “block non-encrypted website payment” is “Off” is not the solution to the problem. I have never had that setting “On” but I am also getting the message, “This organization can’t accept donations right now.”

@niroc, have you contact PayPal support regarding your issue?

    Kind regards.

    Hi,

I have a website for many years. I have been using this Donation button for years. Recently it started to behave as described here. Nothing has changed in my PayPal account or site. So, I called PayPal and they told me that in order to get money that way I needed to change my PayPal account to an official Charity!!! Which is pretty crazy because I collect like $50/year just to cover part of the user community costs I manage.

So, the problem comes from PayPal directly.

    Regards,

    Fran

@hipogrito, do you have a personal or business account?

    Regards.

    personal.

It seems they don’t like that.

But I am not running a business either, just keeping a community alive.

@hipogrito, PayPal’s business account is free. This type of account also allows you to accept donations. I just thought of pointing this out to you. Please see the following link.
