    Re: Yoast SEO free version

Can no longer enter a Meta Description. Trying to enter anything on any of the products gives “Something went wrong. Please reload the page.”

    Have done this:

Install and activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
Go to Tools -> Yoast Test
Click the “Reset indexables and migrations” button
Go to SEO -> Tools and under “Optimize SEO Data” click the “Start SEO data optimization” button.

But problem persists and note that “Readability” seems to be hanging. Have disabled it but Meta problem is still there. Client is willing to upgrade to Premium but worried it won’t solve the problem.

Can anyone give any insights on this? Thanks!

    Hello @yvonner,

Thanks for reaching out and I’ve addressed your concerns below:

Can no longer enter a Meta Description. Trying to enter anything on any of the products gives “Something went wrong. Please reload the page.”

I’m sorry about the bug preventing you from saving your settings in the plugin. In the meantime, please install the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin; it has a troubleshooting mode which does not affect normal visitors to your site. Next, turn OFF all plugins except Yoast SEO and switch to a default WordPress theme. Then, enter the meta description and save changes. Once done, you can disable the troubleshooting mode.

note that “Readability” seems to be hanging.

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-Two.

Please test this on your development or staging site if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.
