Hello, I’m testing Paid Membership Pro on a development version of my site. I’m experiencing an issue with a page containing elementor widgets that display post lists. Every user should be able to see this page, however on the frontend this page is being displayed as an excerpt to guest users (screenshot below), instead of showing the post lists. The option filter search and archives is already set to no.
I’ve found out that if I move a particular elementor widget from the bottom of the page content and place it somewhere else towards the top, the page works as intended. For this reason I’ve somehow fixed the issue by placing a hidden elementor section at the bottom of the page, but this behavior is not normal. I’m considering the paid version of the plugin for my needs but I’d like to know if you can look into this issue because this inconsitency is concerning.
    Thanks

Hi Fabio, thank you for reaching out to Paid Memberships Pro.

I’d like to try and replicate this issue on my side and see what we can do to work around this.

Is this with a standard post list using a built-in element in Elementor? Are you using the free version or Elementor Pro with it?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Further testing narrowed down the issue to one particular elementor widget that’s provided by the theme I’m using. It’s a paid theme, if it’s feasible I can provide you the files to check them out.

Thanks for the feedback Fabio, I’ve noticed similar issues in the past with other Elementor elements. How are you restricting this page, is it on the page settings or are you restricting sections?

Please can you provide me with your Site Health Information. To retrieve this information, please navigate to Tools > Site Health > Select the info option at the top of the screen > Copy Information to Clipboard and include this in your next reply.

Hello, the page and its sections are not restricted. I have set 2 membership levels that only restrict posts. Odd thing is that apparently only this particular custom elementor widget causes the issue, the other theme widgets involving post lists work fine.

I’ve saved the site health info here

    Thanks for the help.

Hello, is there any update about this issue? Thanks

Thanks for your patience @origamifc, we would need to take a look at your theme I’m working on getting a copy of this theme from my side to test.

Can you please share a screenshot of the backend of your page editor of this problem page so I may see your page settings?

Also I noticed you are using a child theme, are there any customizations we should be aware of that might help restrict content or alter Paid Memberships Pro?

Hello Andrew, I can provide you my copy of the theme if needed.
There are few scripts on the child theme that don’t affect content restriction, anyway if I activate only the parent theme the issue still remains.
I’m attaching screens of the backend page editor, the widget is called “post grid” in reference to the “test1” element. No matter the category, tags, sort order, post count, etc, the page stops working as long as the widget is at the bottom and pulls posts. If I move the widget anywhere above the “categories” part (which are a different kind of post widget), the page works fine instead.

There are no paid membership restrictions set for any of the elements of the page, the settings look like the screen I attach:

    Thanks for the help

Is the “test 1” element restricted on the row or container level to require membership? This would be under the row/container “Advanced Settings”.

    (@origamifc)

There are no restrictions set on the container or any other section of the page.

Thanks for the feedback Fabio, please can you send through a copy of the theme so our development team can look into this further and see if there’s anything we can do from our side?

I also recommend reaching out to the theme authors for assistance here as Paid Memberships Pro shouldn’t automatically restrict content and maybe they have some code inside their theme that tweaks this logic.

I’ve sent the necessary files through the contact form you linked.
    Thanks for the assistance.

Thanks for the files Fabio, I had a look at the theme and don’t see any reference to Paid Memberships Pro and the issue is most likely originating elsewhere.

I tried Elementor and the Post Grids element which doesn’t restrict automatically even if there are posts inside the grid that require membership. Please can you clear cache or restrict the Post Grid, save your page and then remove the option and save it again with empty settings to see if this clears it?

I recommend reaching out to a local WordPress developer or posting to https://jobs.wordpress.net for deeper assistance here as it seems to be an issue unique to your site.

Thanks for checking out. I see you restricted the post grid item, but even if you don’t restrict it and it’s the only widget in the content, the page is correctly visible on the frontend for you?

    Thread Starter Fabio

    (@origamifc)

Sorry I didn’t see your edit.

I’ve disabled every plugin except for elementor pro and the theme required ones.
I’ve created a blank page with only the post grid widget, the page doesn’t work (it looks like the screen at the start of the topic) no matter if the widget or its container is restricted or not.
The page becomes normally visible only If I place any other POST widget AFTER the post grid widget
I’ve cleared the cache at every step.

Honestly it’s puzzling and I understand your confusion as well.

That is correct, the only way I could replicate the content restricted message was to restrict the widget itself.

If I don’t restrict the widget, I was able to view the content okay.
