    Hi,
I am a fresh new client of Videopress/JetPack. Thanks for this great solution.

I have just a small bug. When I add my Videopress block in my editor, I don’t have a proper block, but a code [video src="https://videos.files.wordpress.com/XXX" /].

So I cannot manage properly the block, add subtitles, etc…

    What can I do?

    Thanks.

  • Hi @benik67

    Thanks for using VideoPress!

I’ve seen you’ve mentioned adding VideoPress blocks in your editor and not getting any options to add subtitles or make changes; however, we highly suggest using the Video block instead:

    https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-videopress/add-video-block-editor/

That allows for the customizations you’ve mentioned, but let us know if there’s anything else.

    Hello Medhi,
Thanks for your quick answer. You’re right I have the option to upload the subtitles with the video block.

Unfortunately, when I am using the Video block:
    – I don’t have the option to disabled the download (whatever I disabled it on WordPress.com or in the media library)
    – Viewers don’t have the option to change the quality of the video

    So both option have issues.

    Hi @benik67

Could you share a screenshot with the block editor > Video block from your end, please?

I checked on my test environment and I was able to set the settings according to your request.

I recommend https://snipboard.io/ for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL in this email. It works with Chrome and Firefox.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    My best regards,

    Michelle

    Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your reply, and sorry for the delay.
    Here is the screenshot https://snipboard.io/E0DBzj.jpg

As you can see, I still have the option to download, but it is not ticked in the media library: https://snipboard.io/ztZW8p.jpg

And I don”t have the ability to monitor the video quality as on Videopress player.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Benoit

I checked your site, and I do see the quality controls, and I don’t see the download option:

Did you manage to resolve the issue?

Currently on my website, I have only the Videopress player and not the classic player. I cannot put my videos public because I have this Download link.

So no, it is not resolved.

    Hello @benik67,

Currently on my website, I have only the Videopress player and not the classic player. I cannot put my videos public because I have this Download link.

I would like to do some tests, but I see that Jetpack is currently not connected to your site. Can you please deactivate and delete Jetpack entirely, and then reinstall it, as described here:

    https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reinstalling-jetpack

Once we have a working Jetpack connection, we’ll be able to keep digging into the VideoPress settings 🙂

Let me know how it goes and thanks for sorting this out with me!

    Hi,
Done. Sorry it was part of another test.

    Hi @benik67

    Thanks for going through that!

From your screenshots, I’ve seen that you’ve checked the buttons from the backend of your website. Could you try checking the video from the front-end?

I’ve gone ahead and started the process to fix some discrepancies that were happening between your website and our servers, and this could definitely influence the behavior of the download option, so let us know if you notice any changes.

    Hi,
    Unfortunately, I see no change.
