    Hello,

I have already submitted sitemap. It has total 40+ URLs. Only 5 URLs are indexed in Google. These 5 URLs are showing in search console in “Indexed, not submitted in sitemap”.

And other remaining URLs are not showing anywhere in “Coverage” section in search console but showing in “sitemap” section in search console. The last read of my sitemap in search console is today (7 march 2022).

Please let me know how can I fix this issue.

    Hello Sachin,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your sitemap.

You mentioned that the sitemap has over 40 URLs but 5 are ‘indexed, not submitted in sitemap’. That status means that Google’s crawlers found those 5 URLs through other means and not through the submitted sitemap. There’s no need to worry; this just means they are valid URLs and are indeed indexed and appearing in the search results. You can learn more about the different statuses in the index coverage report documentation – https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203/

Regarding other URLs not showing in the coverage section of the Google Search Console, can you share a couple of those?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sure,

Here are other few URls which are not showing in “Coverage” section in search console,

    https://ksadvice.com/best-web-hosting-services-providers/

Also, there are many other URLs, but mentioned only 3 URLs of them.

    Thanks!

Thanks for sharing those URLs; they’re all not showing in search results but appear in the post sitemap.

On checking the robots.txt file, there is no directive blocking indexing. The page source shows meta name='robots' content='index, follow, max-image-preview:large, max-snippet:-1, max-video-preview:-1' /> so indexing is expected.

As a test, can you please request re-indexing for those URLs and inform us of the results?

I have requested indexing for the above 3 URLs 12 hours ago but still, none of those 3 URLs indexed in Google.

In short, no changes happen even after requesting index.

    Hi,

Even if you’ve requested those 3 sample URLs for indexing in Google Search Console, it’s not a guarantee that it will indeed be indexed and show up in the SERP. Are there any errors or did Google report some sort of status for those URLs when you requested indexing? They should help point you in the right direction.

You can refer to the index coverage report documentation for more information – https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203/

When I have requested for indexing those 3 URLs, I have got a normal message “Indexing requested”.

Also, Google hasn’t reported any type of error message or status yet.

Another thing is that it is showing “N/A” for “sitemap” in “Discovery” in “Coverage” when I inspect any URL even if it is already indexed or not indexed.

Here is the screenshot for one indexed URL,

Screenshot for any URL which is not indexed: https://i.ibb.co/qnMD49w/22.png

    Thanks!

    Hi,

With the status of ‘indexed, not submitted in sitemap’ this just means Google was able to find that particular URL not from the sitemap but from other means, and isn’t something to be concerned about as it’s indexed.

As for the other URLs, if they’re appearing in the sitemap and you’ve already submitted the sitemap (/sitemap_index.xml) it may just take some time before Google’s crawler recrawls the sitemap and finds the additional URLs. The Google Search Console should eventually provide a status on the submitted URLs.
