Hey @tripro,
%%sitedesc%% is a smart tag from another competing SEO plugin. We’ve never had support for that smart tag in AIOSEO. The smart tags in the previous version of the plugin, v3.x, were wrapped in single percentage signs (e.g. %site_title%). In the current version, smart tags aren’t wrapped but preceded by a single hashtag (e.g. #site_title).
I’m not sure how that tag ended up in your homepage title, but you’ll need to remove or replace it. If you have a dynamic homepage, then you can change your homepage title under the Search Appearance settings. If you have a static homepage, you can change it in the metabox for that page.

Thanks much for your reply @arnaudbroes ! Sure thing, I have been using AIOSEO for many years along with WPSSO for scheme (before AIOSEO handled any schema settings) and that may be where this conflict came up since it just started when I updated to the latest version of both AIOSEO and WPSSO.
I have changed the title and meta description settings under Search Appearance, but AIOSEO tells me I have to change them on the front page itself, which I did, but the settings don’t change anything and are not reflected in the page.
I have reached out to the WPSSO team as well with this issue as WPSSO should turn off all SEO features if it detects an SEO plugin like AIOSEO. Any other advice? Thanks again!
I’m not familiar with WPSSO so I’m afraid I don’t can’t tell you much other than that. Have you been able to resolve the issue already in the meantime?
