    I have a sitemap containing both a /post-sitemap.xml directory and a /page-sitemap.xml directory.

In Google search console I see that all 4 posts that are in the /post-sitemap directory are all indexed by Google, and all 4 posts are found in the sitemap.

Also in Google search console I see that all the 11 page URL’s are indeed indexed by Google, but they are not found in the sitemap!?

According to Google: “Indexed, not submitted in sitemap”.

What can be wrong with the sitemap, that Google can not find the page URL’s in it?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi @wp-opti

Upon checking your sitemap (/sitemap_index.xml), it seems to be loading both the posts and pages sitemap without any issue.

Just to clarify, the status of ‘indexed, not submitted in sitemap’ shouldn’t be a cause for concern. It doesn’t mean that there’s an issue with the URLs listed in your sitemap. Rather, it just means that Google’s crawlers found those URLs from other means (such as other links from within your website or other websites) and not from the sitemap itself. But no need to worry, as you can be certain that those URLs with that status are indeed indexed.

You can learn more about it in the documentation here in the index coverage report – https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203?hl=en
