I found out that the Yoast Duplicate Post pluggin conflicts WP list of widgets (menu > appearance > widgets). Error : The editor has encountered an unexpected error.

Approaching the widgets via the customizer does work. If I deactivate the Yoats Duplicate Post plugin, the problem is solved. So it looks like the plugin is conflicting.

    Hi @albertsalden

We understand you are experiencing an error when accessing the WP admin dashboard > Appearance (sidebar) > Widgets section, is this correct?

Could you check if you are on the latest version of WP 5.8.1 and Yoast Duplicate Post 4.1.2? And that the rest of your plugins and themes are also up-to-date?

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

Could you check if you are still able to reproduce the issue with a default WP TwentyTwenty theme and only Yoast Duplicate Post as the only plugin enabled?

    Michael,

Thank you so much for the great support. Using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, I discovered that there is a conflict with the Five Star Restaurant Menu – WordPress Ordering Plugin plugin. With this plugin you can create a food menu in a restaurant website.

How can I solve this problem? I’m afraid you’ll start pointing at each other for a solution.

    Greetings,
    Albert

    Hi @albertsalden

Just to clarify, it’s this plugin? So with a default WP theme (such as TwentyTwenty) and only Yoast Duplicate Post and that Five Star Restaurant Menu as the plugins enabled, we’re able to reproduce this error?

Would it be possible for you to provide us with exact steps to reproduce the issue (after installing both plugins, do we just go to the Appearance > Widgets section and the error occurs?) and any screenshots (uploaded via snipboard.io or any other similar service and share a link here) of any error messages?

We’d like to try and reproduce this issue on our end, if possible.

    Michael,

Yes, the combinationn of “Five Star Restaurant Menu – WordPress Ordering” and “Yoast Duplicate Post” with the standard theme gives the error when you take the steps: menu – appearance – widgets.

The error is in the dutch language. Translated :

The editor encountered an unexpected problem.
    Try to fix

When I try to fix nothing happens.

    Hi,

We tried this on a test site with a default WP theme (TwentyTwenty) and enabled the latest versions of Yoast Duplicate Post and the Five Star Restaurant Menu – WordPress Ordering plugins and went to the WP admin dashboard > Appearance (sidebar) > Widgets, and were unable to reproduce the issue. There were no errors appearing from our end.

Are there possibly any widgets that need to be set up in the Five Star Restaurant Menu plugin in order to try and reproduce this?

    Michael,

There are no active widgets from this plugin. In fact, I’ve removed all the widgets that could be found on the site. You still can access the widgets via the theme’s customizer.

    Hi,

We were unable to reproduce the issue with a default WP theme (TwentyTwenty) and those 2 plugins (Five Star Restaurant & Yoast Duplicate Post) enabled. There were no errors that appeared when we went to the WP admin dashboard > Appearance > Widgets.

Just to clarify, when you did a conflict check, did you use a default WP theme or are you using a custom theme on your website?

    Hi,

We understand you also used a default WP theme when performing the conflict check and having only both those plugins activated.

Unfortunately, we were unable to reproduce the issue from our end with the same theme and plugins, so it may be something local to your setup.

Please do try uninstalling and reinstalling a fresh copy of Yoast Duplicate Post and see if this resolves the issue. Otherwise, we’re not sure how to help further if we are unable to replicate the issue on our end.

    Michael,

I don’t think we find the solution. There is always a workaround bij deactivating the app ans change the widgets and activate again.

So thanks a lot for all your affordd. I close this ticket.

    Greetings,
    Albert
