@jacobsr
We’re sorry you’re having trouble with meta output on the page. I imagine this can be frustrating for you. We’d like to look a closer look.
Upon checking the page source of your homepage https://www.adventskalenderkopen.nl we do see the following meta title and description.
<title>Adventskalender kopen? Bekijk alle Adventskalenders voor 2021</title>
<meta name="description" content="Adventskalender kopen? ✅ Bekijk alle adventskalenders voor 2021. ✅ De grooste adventskalender-website van Nederland." />
Could you please confirm again if this information matches the one you’ve set in Yoast SEO?
If that appears wrong, could you please refer to this Knowledge Base and try to apply one of the given solutions that matches your case?
Thank you Suwash very much for your reply. The meta title and description don’t match the information is set in Yoast. If I make any changes it doesn’t change.
I check the details in the Knowledge Base already but that also doesn’t seem the problem. The strange thing is I only happens on pages. With posts I do not have any problems…
Hi @jacobsr
We understand that this only occurs for pages and not your posts.
Could you provide us with an example URL of one of your pages where this issue is occurring, and then also attach a screenshot (using snipboard.io or another similar service to upload a screenshot and share a link) of what you’ve entered for the SEO title and meta description in the Yoast SEO meta box, so we can match what the output is in the page source for that page?
Often, we also see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.
Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.
If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts
With the troubleshooting mode in the Health Check plugin, and a default WP theme such as TwentyTwenty, and only Yoast SEO as the plugin enabled, could you confirm if this issue still occurs for your pages?
Hi,
This thread has been marked as resolved due to lack of activity by original poster.
If you are not the original poster but have a similar issue, please open a new request.
I’m sorry for the late reply but we tried different things in a staging site. We find out that the Problem occurs on all pages and posts that are older than a few months. We tried another theme, de-active all plugins but the meta-text doesn’t change. Hereby some printscreens of the problem:
Example of meta-text we wrote in the Yoast-SEO section: https://www.adventskalenderkopen.nl/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Photo-1-YOAST-SEO-PROBLEM.png
The meta-text as showed in the website: https://www.adventskalenderkopen.nl/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Photo-2-YOAST-SEO-problem.png
Another thing we noticed is that the ‘Optimize SEO data’ functions doesn’t work (Yoast SEO > Extra > Optimize SEO data’). If we hit that button it takes a while to optimize the data and finally the system gives an error message “Failed to Fetch”. Maybe it has something to do with that?
@jacobsr Thanks for your reply.
We rechecked on the page and confirmed that the title and meta description being output are not showing the updated values that are shown in the screenshots you provided, and are currently being output as the following:
<title>Adventskalender kopen? Bekijk alle Adventskalenders voor 2021</title>
<meta name=”description” content=”Adventskalender kopen? ✅ Bekijk alle adventskalenders voor 2021. ✅ De grooste adventskalender-website van Nederland.” />
Regarding the issue you are experiencing with this and the ‘Optimize SEO Data’ feature, to resolve this, can you please try the following?:
1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
2. Go to Tools -> Yoast Test
3. Hit the “Reset Indexables & Migrations” button
4. Under SEO → Tools, click the “Start SEO Data Optimization” button.
We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
