• My WP site is hosted at Network Solutions, running PHP version (7.2.34). Network Solutions claims they cannot update the PHP on their servers they say it has to be done by wordpress. I have gone around and around with them on this to no avail.
Is there a plugin or code I can use or add myself to upgrade my WP site’s PHP to at least 7.4 without them?

As the PHP version is set at the server level by your hosting company, updating involves either interacting with your host’s settings or asking them to do it.

Thus, exactly how to do the update depends on your hosting company.

Yes, I know, I read all that on how to update PHP before coming to this forum for support. I feel like I am in Ground Hog Day III.

Anyone else on this forum as frustrated as I am with Network Solutions hosting WP and unwilling to update the server?

PHP 7.2.X reached its end of life in Deecember 2020 (https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php). Therefore, it no longer receives security updates. There are 2 possibilities. 1) The support is not communicating clearly, and somewhere in the control panel provided by the host there is an option to upgrade the PHP version on the account (e.g. cPanel has a MultiPHPManager: https://snipboard.io/yKmRtL.jpg). If this is not the case and the host refuses to update the PHP version I would consider giving up and moving to a different host.

Thank you! I will give it one more try with them otherwise, move. You have been very helpful.

    Good luck!
