Hi,
Do you mean “geolocation”, i.e. finding the user on the map?
I don’t mind adding a checkbox to disable that, but it might be easier to just include it in your privacy policy and let users accept it to access the site.
Hi Chris,
Including a statement in the Privacy Policy does not relieve the need to block IP collection prior to the user’s explicit consent.
So the simplest solution to improve compliance would be to add an option to completely disable geolocation.
Regards.
Hi,
There’s no geolocation unless the user manually presses the ‘my location’ button above the map zoom controls.
If you block access to the site with an overlay before the privacy policy is accepted, that button can’t be pressed. Am I missing something?
When you want to calculate a direction with Google Map, the location of the visitor is not automatically transmitted to Google if the input mapp-dir-saddr is not filled?
Hi,
No, the plugin doesn’t geolocate in that case, Google does. Google Maps geolocates (on their site) if the source address is blank.
Hi,
OK,I trust you.
I close this topic.
