@teanaciousleaf Thanks for getting in touch! We can definitely point you in the right direction here.
At this time, the Site Kit plugin only inserts a basic Analytics snippet that does not allow for modification for conversion tracking. You can still use Site Kit, but you’ll first need to set up the tag separately in Google Tag Manager:
- Ensure that you have created a Tag Manager account and container
- Follow this guide to set up a conversion tag in Tag Manager
- Once you’ve completed the setup, connect Google Tag Manager via Site Kit by going to Site Kit > Settings > Connect More Services > Google Tag Manager in WordPress. You’ll be prompted to log in to Google to connect; be sure to log into the account that you used to set up Google Tag Manager.
Let me know how that goes and if you have any other questions.
Rockin! Thanks I will try this out. Please don’t close this thread yet, as I may need another day or 2 to try it out. I will update!
@teanaciousleaf Sounds good! Leaving this open for now; just let us know how things go.
Okay I think I have something finally set up. If it automatically put tags into my site I should be able to see it in the html of the website correct?
@teanaciousleaf Yep, that’s right! Once you’ve connected Google Tag Manager via Site Kit (step 3 above), you should be able to see a code snippet starting with <!-- Google Tag Manager added by Site Kit --> in the <head> of your site.
Okay thanks! This has helped me go in the right direction
I also went into WooCommerce > Settings > Integration > Google
and check marked the Use Global Site Tags.
Then I followed your instructions and voila, it looks like its there went through all the source code. I’m just glad I don’t have to copy and paste that code through EVERY…SINGLE…PAGE… hahaha
It would be awesome if Google had a help page showing this route instead of pointing someone to the long road.
Thank you again Bethany!
Awesome, glad to hear @teanaciousleaf!

Agreed – we’re in the process of improving Site Kit documentation, and I’ve noted this as a topic that we can cover as we build that out.
Please do feel free to leave a review – we’d love to hear your feedback on the plugin. Thanks!
Thanks again Bethany! You rock!
