i just pasted the tracking code in my theme ocean wp>appearanc>theme editor> header.php file

does this mean that the code will be lost every time i update the theme?

Yes. So, don’t do that!

Use one of the dozens of GA plugins instead. The one I use is https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-site-kit/

are u sure the code will be lost when i update the theme?

i didn t want to use a plugin so that it does not make my website slower. do u think the plugin will affect speed?

If you modify the theme, the modifications will be lost when you update it. GA should not be part of your theme, so the best way to add it is via a plugin.
