text squeezing up between photos

This is only one example. Text from subsequent paragraphs bleeds up into the previous paragraph VISUALLY, regardless of being separate blocks. If a photo is at the end of a paragraph, the space next to it will not be allowed to stay empty, instead filled with the next paragraph. Flip side of the coin: Each new paragraph does not start on its own new line, VISUAL line.
Separators don’t help, and creating spaces with a single period on each line creates huge gaps on the small screen. I just want to tell a paragraph to go to the next line, the next REAL line.
