does Google frown upon %postname%.html permalinks?
-
I have a static website that is being moved over to WordPress as a dynamic CMS.
I’d like to preserve the exact urls of all the content, which would require having .html extensions on posts.
I know you can set the permalink to %posttname%.html – but is there any negative effect of doing so in Google’s eyes? Will my pagerank suffer if the same url (www.site.com/post.html) still points to the same content?
Is there any benefit to having a physical .html file on the server vs. permalinking .html in WordPress?
