    Hello,

From time to time, customers get the next error after returning back from the Paypal payment login window: “SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data”.

Any idea what could be causing it?

Thank you in advance. kind regards

    Hi there,

It sounds like the expected response is not given. Which flavour of PayPal are you using (the built-in PayPal Standard, perhaps a plugin like PayPal Checkout, etc.), and what types of products are being bought (simple, variable, subscriptions)?

In the meantime, double-check your settings for your payment gateway, making sure that all settings from APIs and IPNs are correctly in place.

If you could share a screenshot that shows the error, that would help. You can upload the screenshot to your media library and share the link with us, or you can use a service like Droplr (https://droplr.com/) or CloudApp (https://www.getcloudapp.com/) to share the image file.

Your System Status Report would also be insightful, which you can find at WP Admin » WooCommerce » Status, select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.
