Hi @dajanas thanks for reporting the issue. I’ll have to try and find out more… But first: get myself an iPhone 😉
Don’t you know anybody who uses an iPhone? They are quite common. Mine is already a few years old, I would like to lend it to you for testing, but that’s not possible. But this scrolling issue is really annoying 🙁
So now the release of an update with a fix depends on the purchase of an iPhone?
When I read the Easy Fancybox change log, I wonder if maybe the problem was caused by the following “fixes”?
Version 1.5.8:
FIX: No center on scroll on touch devices
Version 1.8.4:
Improved center on scroll behavior with title outside
I updated the plugin two weeks ago. Before that I used an old version that I hadn’t updated in a long time. Everything was still running fine then. It used to work fine – it must have been made worse by some “fix”.
Indeed, the issue seems to have been introduced by one of the (many) changes but my testing abilities on iPhone are limited. And any user input is welcome. For instance, in which iOS version(s) are you seeing the issue?
I am using iOS 13.4.1, but I’m pretty sure that the problem also occurs with earlier iOS versions.
To me it seems as if the automatic moving of the opened image is “delayed” while scrolling. It used to happen as soon as you scrolled – the image always moved with you. Now it only moves a bit every now and then. It appears time-delayed. As if the script (?) was still waiting for something after scrolling. If you scroll too far and the open image is outside the visible area, it never moves. Maybe this helps debugging?
Great 🙂 Looking forward to the fix 😉 Thank you!
If you wish, you can download the current development version from here https://github.com/RavanH/easy-fancybox/tree/no-scroll-bg — green button on the right, then choose Download ZIP.
To install, first deactivate the current Easy FancyBox and then go to Plugins > Add new and choose Upload (button at the top). Select the zip file and Install. You should then see version 1.9-alpha-92 (or later) available among your plugins.
Activate it to test, and let me know how it works for you on iPhone of course 🙂
And this is save? I am working on the live website and do not want to make strange tests that could break my site. Will it be easily possible to switch back to the official version of Easy Fancybox after settings without problems?
If you install from the zip, the beta version will appear right below the normal version on the Plugins page. So you can try the development version and if it does not work for you, you can go back to the normal version.
Just make sure to FIRST deactivate one before activating the other.
I deactivated the old version, then copied the alpha to the plugin folder, then which activated the alpha. When clicking on images, the frame opens, the image description (if available) is shown, but NO image, just white space. When scrolling, the frame now does NOT move at all, even no longer on the desktop PC.
I immediately deactivated the alpha again, removed it from my server, activated the old version – and what should I say? The frame is displayed correctly, also the images, but the frame does NOT move at all anymore when scrolling – even not on the desktop PC.
In the preferences, the alpha disabled the option to center while scrolling (which shouldn’t happen, because later I used the normal version again, the alpha shouldn’t change any settings of the normal version).
The problem with the alpha is that no images are displayed in the frame. But I don’t want to use test versions anymore. I use a published website, not a test server.
Thank you anyway for your time! I appreciate it, but I am very careful with all of that.
