    Hi,
I have upgraded to WP 28.5.
I have been trying to upload a photo to my “Revolution Lifestyle” theme dash board. All of the permissions in my wp directory all check out. I am using just the plugins that were assigned to my blog theme. One of them is “Featured Content Gallery”. When I try to upload a photo I get this error message: “Unable to create directory /home/tony452/public_html/internetbusinessreviewblog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

i have read the Sticky Above “Image/Media Uploader problems?” and really don’t understand it so well. So I am asking if anyone have had a simular problem & how they fixed it.
    Can anyone help me?

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I have been struggling with this one for some time now. 🙂

    Thank You,
    Tony S.

  • Change the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Ihave also deactivsted all plugins to see if that had any effect, It was still no go. Thank you very much for your help. Do you have any other ideas that I could try?

Is there any chance that you’re running out of space on your server?

Couldit have something to do with maybe where my uploads folder is located or it permissions

I gusse I am trying to find out exactly where the uploads folder for the WP media should be and what the permissions should be.
Also should there be any folders inside the uploads folder if so what they are. Maybe I can make the folsers myself if I find they are missing. 😉

I checked my wp_content and found no “uploads” folder there so I uploaded “uploads” plugin and after I activated it I still get the same error message when i try to upload photos from my computer. I also noticed that there still is no uploads folder in my “wp_content folder” I am still trying to get the upload function to work without giving me This error message: “Unable to create directory /home/tony452/public_html/internetbusinessreviewblog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10. with all the info given can someone put me on the right track?

I think my problem is that I am missing the “uploads” folder inside my “wp-content’ folder. Could any one tell me how I should create this “uploads folder” so that MY IMAGE UPLOADS will go here correctly “/wp-content/uploads/2009/10.” I know how and where the “uploads folder” should go, I want to make sure that the uploads folder sub folders are named correctly and put in the right Place. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks,
    Tony S.

    I don’t see wp_admin/settings

No – I meant look under Settings/Miscellaneous within the Admin/Dashboard area.

    (@tony-s)

I found it and it has wp_uploads as a default.

    Good Morning all.
I have created a uploads folder in wp_content. Now when I attempt to upload a photo from my computer I get a different error message: “The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/tony452/public_html/internetbusinessreviewblog/wp-content/uploads.” is anyone here familiar with this error message and can help me fix it? I will really appreciate any advice on this. 😉

    Thank You,
    Tony S.

You have to worry about both permissions and ownership. I posted a solution on another thread. Hope it helps.
