Can’t submit form with hidden required field

I have created payments options on my page to use the following options:
(1) cash
(2) email money transfer
(3) visa payments

Visa is the only required field that uses stripe if the user wants to make a visa payment. The stripe visa information is only shown if the user selects the visa option.

The issue is that the form can’t be submitted unless the user selects and pays with visa. If the user selects cash or email money transfer, the visa information is still required because its a mandatory field.

The problem would be solved if the stripe payment option wasn’t a mandatory field.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I’m facing this problem, too, but with other hidden-by-conditional required fields. Hope the WPMU Team fix it, soon!

Are there any other fields than the selection and Stripe field?

Stripe field, even though is mandatory can use visibility rules (conditionals) and be hidden if no appropriate selection is made in other field – in such case it shouldn’t prevent the form from submission.

What’s the error message when you’re trying to submit such form?

Would you please open a separate ticket about that? I understand that the issue is similar but if it involves different (conditionally hidden) fields it’s very likely caused by different reasons and it’d be better to investigate it separately. If you could, please, start a separate ticket and share the form export in that ticket too it would be very helpful.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for your response. I’m using visibility conditions so that the stripe only shows when the user selects visa. Initially, I’m not getting a visible error, but the form won’t submit. Once I change the payment option to visa and the stripe information is shown – I see the error that says your card number is incomplete.

I’ve tried a few scenarios:

1) removing stripe – the form submits
2) adding stripe back with the visibility condition – the form can’t be submitted

I’ve also create a new form with two fields. One that hides or shows the stripe card based on a yes or no visibility condition. When the answer is no and stripe is hidden, I can’t submit the form.

I would appreciate your help to get this resolved.

Thank you for response!

I must say I still can’t replicate that. I just tested it again with a completely new, simple form (just one select field and a Stripe field showing based on the choice there) and it works as expected – form submits correctly in both cases.

I suppose I might be missing something specific in form configuration or it’s specific to the site setup but we’d need to test it more. Could you please export one of the forms that are not working for you and share it with us here for further testing?

There’s an “Export” option under the little “gear” icon next to the form on the “Forminator -> Forms” page and it will give you a code that you can copy and paste here (please mark it as “code” when posting, using “code” option of this message editor).

I hope you are doing well!

I’ve imported your form and see that you are trying to apply conditional options, allow to user to pay now or just submit the form.

A conditional payment is not a part of the Forminator plugin yet. The form can’t be submitted because the calculation filed is not equal with 0, and when this happens, Stripe requires a payment to be made.

I’m afraid it is not possible to achieve this yet, with the Forminator plugin. However, this feature is under development and will be released in the future.

For now, as a workaround, you can try using two different forms, one that will accept only Stripe Payment, and the other that will allow submitting the form.
